Identifying the USB Host Controller Type

the Windows Control Panel select System Properties
Click Device
Manager
Click on Universal Serial Bus controllers
The
onboard USB Host Controller in the above example is the
Intel 82371AB/EB PCI to USB
Universal Host Controller
The
Intel 82371 AB/EB is the most dependable of all onboard USB Host Controllers
The
onboard USB Host Controller in the above example is the
SiS 7001 PCI/USB Host Controller
The onboard USB Host Controller in
the above example is the
AMD Irongate
If you are having problems with
AMD 756, use ALi Tips and Tricks
For each USB host controller there is
(1) USB root hub.
One (1) host controller = One (1) root hub
Two (2) host controllers = Two (2)
root hubs
The General purpose USB Hub is an
external USB hub device.
If NO external hub is present
there is NO entry.
