For USB to operate correctly it MUST be Enabled (Switched On), in the computer BIOS

Common BIOS "Switches"

• USB Keyboard - Enabled or Yes

• Legacy USB - Enabled or Yes

• Assign IRQ for USB - Enabled or Yes

Entering the BIOS Setup (How To)

The Del key is the most common.  Other keys and combinations are used . 

To enter the BIOS setup,  press and hold one or a combination of the following keys during boot up.

Note:  You may need to press and hold the boot key (s) before anything appears on the screen

• Del
• F10
• F1
• F2
• Ctrl + Esc
• Esc
• Alt + Esc
• Ctrl + Alt + Esc
• Ctrl + Alt + Enter
• Ins

Warning

Changing BIOS settings can cause the computer NOT to boot.

Updating the BIOS

Many common USB problems are cured by updating the BIOS.  No amount of tweaking can correct a system that requires an updated BIOS version.  If all other settings seem to be correct and you still experience USB problems, a BIOS update may be in order.
